Going Vegetarian

Yes, you read it right! Our family is going vegetarian. Mostly. Not hard core, just at home at the very least. If I go out to a restaurant, you best believe I am ordering me a steak. But we will eat meat sparingly, except fish, we can't give it up.

The reason we're doing this is for DH. Everything he eats makes him sick. Well, just about everything. There is a notion that because his blood is type A, he shouldn't eat meat... makes him sick! Other things that make him sick are fried things, eggs, sugar, red sauce, some dairies, just about anything processed... you know,  all the yummy stuff!

So we're going to try it. All vegetarian meals  for the next few weeks for starts. We'll see how much strain this puts on me, and if there are any improvements in DH's tortured tummy.

We made a list of stuff he CAN eat, and it's not as bad as I thought. In fact, it a pretty darn delicious-looking list. And healthy! Which is always a good thing.

I suppose I'll keep ya'll updated on our latest adventure!

I'm excited!

Hey! Its not as crazy as you think. I'm so much a vegetarian as a "plant eater". I'm trying to just eat more plants and less animal stuff, so fruits, veggies, beans, whole grains, you get it. You can acutally make a lot of really awesome stuff! I've got some cool books (I started with a book for kids for meals for myself-hahahaha! its great though! Called "better than peanut butter and jelly")

There are some yummy veg recipes on my blog and I'd be happy to share more with ya, if you need them. Eating Veg doesn't have to be boring or tasteless, like some people think. Good luck!

Oh, Alicia, I can't tell you how much happier you will be and how much better you'll feel. can you tell I am a veggie? I have been for over 20 years. I used to be like your DH and then found out that many of the headaches I was getting could have been caused by meat. Once I stopped eating meat, they lessened quite a bit and I felt so much more energized. Occasionally, I'll have that hankering for a good BBQ hamburger...take a couple of bites and say that's enough...solved the craving. My kids grew up eating very little meat and thrived. Can't wait to see how this works for you!

I wish you all the best with this. We cut out SUGAR. We eat a LOT of chicken - but keep the sides really to just fresh fruit and veggies. I've had a blast coming up with meals plans. It's made a huge difference for us already! Good luck!
